This involves the application of a chemical solution to the surface of the skin that can produce a careful removal of its outer layers resulting in markedly clearer, smooth and rejuvenated complexion. Depending on the strength of chemical solution used determines the results, which can be as effective as laser treatment, at less of a cost. Aesthetic Cosmetic Procedures currently offer two types of peel; Superficial Peels and Moderate Depth Peels.

TCA EasyPeel for a moderate depth peel Skin is the largest organ of your body. Unlike the heart or lungs, the skin is also the only organ, which is constantly exposed to the elements of the outside world. Over the years, exposure to the sun, wind and other factors can take a toll on your skin. Many facial peel treatment options are designed to accelerate the removal of old dead cells at the surface of the skin, bringing forth the softer, smoother skin below. Peel treatments are very gentle, unlike the more aggressive Laser resurfacing techniques available and their associated side effects. There are several types of chemical peel, each using different chemicals and fruit acids. Light and medium depth peels use TCA (Trichloroacetic acid) Peel. The gentler alternative is available in the form of a Glycolic Acid Peel

The TCA peel works by causing sloughing or removal of the upper layers of skin. Normally these are the layers that are damaged by the elements such as sun, wind and neglect. By removing the upper layers of skin, the overall skin texture is dramatically smoothed, superficial wrinkles are quickly eliminated and color irregularities are improved.

The advantage of this peel is that its pasty like texture makes the application easy and ensures even uptake into the skin. Patients’ benefit by regaining a fresher more vibrant appearance.

It has been used for many years to treat facial wrinkles, age spots, pigment abnormalities, mask of pregnancy and other superficial skin problems such as sun damaged skin. (Including pre-cancerous lesions), acne / acne scarring, freckles, appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and the appearance of superficial scars. It can also be used on hands, neck and chest.

The TCA Peel is one of the most innovative ways to easily and optimally rejuvenates the skin using a special based formulation.

  • • Chemical peels can not change your pore size
  • • Can not tackle deep acne or traumatic scarring

  • • Development of hyperpigmentation or brown spots as skin has little protection against the sun. (This can be minimised by sun avoidance and strict use of sun block).
  • • Infection.
  • • Long lasting redness of the face (over 2 - 3 months).
  • • Very rarely, scarring can develop. This can be permanent, but is very unlikely.
  • • Possible outbreak of cold sores.

You may experience stinging during the procedure followed by redness and significant peeling.

You must avoid contact of the area with water or jewellery until the following day after your TCA peel.

A sun block of at least Factor 30 must be used for 6 weeks post treatment as skin will be sensitive to the sun.

Fruit acid containing beauty products can not be used during the treatment

For best results, it is advisable to avoid sun exposure and the following products or procedures at least one week prior to treatment:-

  • Electrolysis
  • Waxing
  • Depilatory Creams
  • Women – Please come for your treatment without make up
  • Men – it is advised not to shave the day of your peel

When TCA is applied to the skin, it causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days. When the old skin has peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and more even colour.

TCA is applied to your skin. Treatment is administered in a single session, of around 5 – 10 minutes duration. During this period, you may experience a slight burning sensation. This sensation is so slight, no sedation or anesthesia is required.

At the end of your treatment session, you will be provided with a treatment information leaflet. This document acts as a reference card to enable you to maximise the benefits from your treatment.

More than one TCA peel may be needed to achieve the desired result. This will be decided during your consultation with a treatment practitioner.

After having a TCA peel your new skin will be sensitive to sunlight for at least 6-8 weeks afterwards. During this time it is very important to protect the new skin with sunscreens, hats and the avoidance of strong sunlight. TCA-Peel patients are advised to avoid sun exposure and to use sun protection cream (minimum SPF 30) for several weeks following treatment. Failure to comply with this recommendation may produce some unintended colour changes in skin.

Prices are £660 for a series of 4 peels including all necessary aftercare products.
