Dermafillers are used to soften and contour lines, folds, and wrinkles. The most commonly used dermal fillers are Hyaluronic based which is a natural polysaccharide. They are biocompatible and there is no risk of transmitting disease. Aesthetic Cosmetic Procedures use a range of non-permanent gel fillers like Restylane®, Perlane, Juvederm and Hydrafill. The solution is injected into the skin to add volume and create a more youthful appearance. Dermafillers all aid in signs of ageing, as we age our skin looses elasticity and supporting collagen from beneath the surface and fillers aid in recreating collagen re-growth and can help plump out lines and rejuvenate our faces. Dermafillers are an ideal solution for patients wanting to soften deep lines from the mouth to nose area, lip lines, enhance thin lips, create a more define lip border and to lift the corners of the mouth. Usually your treatment should last from 8-12months, usually 9 months in all areas except for the Lips will last from 6 Months minimum.

Some mild bruising which may take 2-3 days to disappear and corners of mouths tend to bruise more than other areas. Redness, swelling, itching or discomfort may take place. In the case of a lip augmentation swelling may maybe be considerable for a few days. Discoloration at the implant site with one or two days of injection into the skin, and within a week after lip augmentation. Temporary palpable lumpiness at the implant site. Joint pain or muscle pain or headache have been reported, but are unlikely.

• Blistering
• Infection
• Cold sores. If you have a history of cold sores in the treated area, filler injections may cause them to break out again. If it occurs a prescription for antiviral tablets will be given that must be taken before and after the treatment.
• Allergic reaction; Immediate allergic types:
Include prolonged redness, swelling, itching or hard lumps at the points of injection. They sometimes may last several months or longer, but it is extremely unusual.

Delayed allergic type reactions:
1 in 8,000 patients reported incidences in delayed allergic reactions have occurred.

Anyone who has active infection i.e. acne.

Anyone who is known to have an allergy to Hyaluronic acid

Anyone who is Pregnant or Breastfeeding (as there is no research data for these groups)

This will be discussed when going through past medical history/Consent forms and your treatment plan. Please come to your appointment 45 minutes before hand as you will have to have an anaesthetic cream applied to the area that you are having the Dermafillers applied and the cream must remain on that area for 45 minutes. For lips, an anaesthetic will be administered before application of fillers in the lip area.

Your procedure will not take long, roughly 15 minutes.

Soon after treatment there may be slight redness, swelling and some tenderness and itching at the site of the treated areas. This is a normal effect of the injection, it is only temporary and as a rule will disappear in one or two days. When the lips are injected the initial swelling may last longer. Some patients can experience swelling for up to one week and the lips can look uneven during that time. Therefore the immediate result after treatment to the lips is not the final result. Avoid touching the treated areas for at least 6 hours. Then, the areas can be washed gently with soap and water and light make-up can be applied. If the area is tender, apply some ice to the treatment site. Do not engage in strenuous exercise right after the treatment. If possible, avoid the sun, as sun exposure will reduce the persistence of the product. Massage the treatment site if you experience lumpiness Do not apply any creams which contains alpha hydroxy acids Avoid the sun and wear a sun screen at all times Patients who have had cold sores in the past should note that there is always a risk that injecting any product around the lips may cause the herpes to flare up again. Patients taking aspirin or similar medication should be aware that this could increase bleeding and bruising at the sites of injection Usually your treatment should last from 8-12months usually 9 months. Lips will last from 6 Months minimum.

It is recommended that your next treatment should be at least 6 months after your last treatment.

Prices start from £299 per syringe but the cost will depend on the number of syringes needed to create the desired result. One syringe should cover lip enhancement or mild nose and mouth lines.
